Over 1,000 participate in Ex-Servicemen rally

MENDHAR: Addressing the aspirations of the veterans who have dedicated their life in service of the country, Romeo Force organised a veterans rally and medical outreach campaign at Mendhar. The aim of the rally was to provide an avenue for redressal of grievances of not only veterans, but also Veer Naris and widows regarding issues such as pension benefits and also to provide centralised medical facilities to enable them to live their lives with dignity and pride.
The rally was addressed by Lt Gen K.H Singh, GOC, White Knight Corps. Veterans form a large segment of the population in Poonch and Rajouri Districts and nearly a 1,000 of them and their dependents participated in the rally. The civil administration was very forthcoming in extending their support to resolve issues if any of the veterans.
To provide further welfare facilities a medical outreach campaign was also organised for their benefit, which included dental specialists, lady gynecologist and ophthalmologist. Representatives from various Defence Services / Army Departments like Controller of Defence Accounts (Pension), Allahabad, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Director General of Resettlement, Zila Sainik Welfare Board, JAK LI and JAK RIF Records participated in the rally and assisted the veterans, Veer Naris and widows in resolving their problems related to pension benefits and Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme.
Veer Naris were also facilitated to commemorate the great sacrifice made by martyrs in the service of the nation. Wheelchairs and other mobility equipment were provided to differently abled and elderly veterans and their dependents.
A cultural programme was also organised which was performed by the local school children.
