Op Megh Rahat continues in Ramsu

As the water level receded in Srinagar and adjoining areas, people started moving out of the Valley. The large exodus of people congregated at Ramsu on National Highway in Ramban District, where massive landslide had washed away 5000m of the road. Approx 10000 people were safely extricated and brought to the other side of the landslide. Approx 2 Tonnes of food and 30,000 litres of water alongwith tea were provided to the locals. Approx 2000 locals were given medical treatment by four medical detachments established by Army.

GOC, Delta Force rushed to the affected area alongwith commander of Rashtriya Rifles sector at Ramban, in order to monitor the relief operation of the Army. Approx 6 Tonnes of rations was air dropped and distributed to locals on 12 September 2014, who were thankful to the Army for safely evacuating them and giving them a new lease of life. Army is making sure that valley is de-congested.
