RAJOURI: The activists of National Students Union of India (NSUI) held a press conference at Rajouri under its District General Secretary Wasiq Malik in which they strongly condemned the vindictive police Lathi charge on the innocent students of NIT Srinagar.
Malik said that it was a brutal act on the part of police in which they did not spare the handicapped students who were seriously injured and even some of them suffered fractures and had to undergo surgery. He assured the students of the NIT that NSUI from Rajouri – Poonch and even whole of the country is by their side and will always support them.
Malik also appealed to the HRD team who visited NIT Srinagar to carry out thorough investigation and give its recommendations to the government for remedial action. At the same time he appealed to the students to remain calm so that the situation does not pose a threat to the brotherhood and communal harmony.
He also appealed to the Central Government that the Kashmiri students pursuing education in other states of the country , should not suffer the retaliatory action like threatening them for suspension or rustication.
Meanwhile Malik also urged the Coalition Government to take in hand the demarcation of land and construction work of the Government Medical College Rajouri which was sanctioned for District Poonch – Rajouri during the NC – Congress regime. He also reminded the Cabinet Minister, minister of State and MLCs of border districts to concentrate on the construction and completion of GMC Rajouri for the benefit of people.
