Nowshera people suspend hunger strike
NOWSHERA : The villagers of Lam, Ladoka, Kampla Mohra, Pukharni and residents of Nowshera town have suspended the strike-unto-death and blockage of Jammu – Poonch National Highaway on the assurance of government to take up the case in the Cabinet meeting on 3rd September, 2014.
According to the protesters, a deputation of villagers and citizens of Nowshera met PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Sham Lal, Forest Environment and Ecology Minister Mian Altaf Ahmad and MoS (Independent Charge) of Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Ajaz Ahmad Khan and discussed the demand of Tehsil status to Ladoka etc . The ministers assured the deputation that the issue will be taken up in the ensuing Cabinet meeting for redressing their grievances.
On the assurance of the ministers the protesters have suspended the strike-unto-death and blockage of road on 1st September, 2014.
The protesters which include Sarpanch Vijay Choudhary, Advocate Haq Nawaz and members of the Joint Action Committee while talking to STATE TIMES said that they have suspended the strike for the time being and in case favourable decision is not taken in the meeting, the strike would be resumed.
