JAMMU: The Department of Nephrology Super Speciality Hospital (SSH) celebrated World Kindly Day as the day was commemorated throughout the world to create awareness about kidney diseases.
Dr. S.K Bali Prof. and HoD Nephrology delivered key note address on this occasion and informed the gathering about the various kidney diseases and their prevention. The theme of this year’s Kidney Day is ‘Kidney Diseases in Children and Their Early Prevention’.
Dr. Surinder Sodhi, Senior Resident, Department of Nephrology, SSH Jammu, informed that the Department of Nephrology in SSH is providing services to the patients of kidney diseases since its start in 2013. Around 4,500 Haemo-dialysis are done per year and around 35 CAPD are done annually. In addition the department is providing indoor and outdoor services to patients of renal diseases.
Dr Bali emphasised the preventive measures which include health education early detection and proper treatment at early stage to prevent the onset of chronic renal failure.
The function was attended by the senior faculty members, residents and paramedical staff of the Government Medical College Jammu.
Meanwhile, symposium on ;Kidney Diseases in Children’ was organised by the Department of Nephrology, SKIMS to commemorate World Kidney Day here at SKIMS Auditorium. The students from Govt. Boys Higher SecondarySchool, Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Green Valley Educational Institute and Kashmir Harvard School gave speech on various aspects of kidney diseases in children followed by question answer session.
Director SKIMS Dr. Showkat Zargar and Dean Medical Faculty Dr. Gul Javid encouraged the children to take care of their kidneys right from childhood to ensure healthy life ahead.
On the occasion Director SKIMS felicitated Khanday Showkat 11 Year old who had undergone successful kidney transplant about four years back at SKIMS.
