bjpJalandhar: Terming NDA government at the Centre as “corruption free”, BJP today said that in the last one year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought back the respect and credibility of the Union government which it had lost during the UPA regime.

“The BJP-led Centre has given a corruption free government in the last one year,” party national spokesperson Nalin Kohli said, adding, “also the institution of Prime Minister has regained its lost glory and respect.”

“In the last one year of the NDA rule, the Union government has regained the power which it had lost during UPA rule,” he said.

“The present Union government has no provision of being run by outsiders. All the departments of the government are working in unison and there is no conflict among them,” the spokesperson said.

Praising the leadership of PM Modi, Kohli said “the work done by the government during the first year of rule has increased confidence of not only the masses but also of foreign nations in this government.”

“It is because of this increased confidence that Prime Minister Modi has being able to bring in foreign investments worth billions of dollars during his tours to other countries,” he said.

Counting achievements of the Union government in the last one year, Kohli claimed that the economy has been brought on track, inflation and fiscal deficit has been contained and stringent laws have been made regarding black money which will make it impossible to stash it abroad.

Asked about the issues of drug dealings and addiction in Punjab the BJP nation spokesperson said, “The party feels that drug abuse is a serious social issue in the state which no one can deny and we will help the state government in all ways possible to fight it.”

He, however, said that the issue of maintaining law and order comes under the purview of the state government.

To a question on Centre denying special financial package to Punjab, Kohli said, “the government’s decision is final. It has accepted most of the proposals of the 14th Finance Commission due to which states’ share in Central taxes has increased.”

Over the controversy involving two Union Ministers over beef eating, he said, “The comment ‘those want to eat beef should go to Pakistan’ was from a personal viewpoint not that of the party’s. But it is unacceptable. Moreover, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju’s statement on people’s food habit was twisted by the media.
