NC-BJP clash: Section 144 remains in force, educational institutions open

JAMMU: All educational institutions remained functional while normal life returned to violence-hit Kalakote belt of Rajouri district where a clash broke out between NC and BJP activists over creation of new wards ahead of Panchayat Polls scheduled to be held in March. The district administration has imposed section 144 keeping the volatile situation in view. “Section 144 has been imposed as preventive measure but situation is under control,” a police official said.
He said that schools and college witnessed healthy attendance while market remained open as normalcy restored. Meanwhile a Special Investigation Team was constituted to probe the incident in which 17 persons including the close relatives of NC leader and former MLA Kalakote were booked for instigating trouble in the area.
