JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir National Sikh Front (NSF) on Thursday demanded from the State and Central Government to impose a ban on the Messenger of God, a movie on controversial Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda sect head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, which releases early this year.
Talking to media persons here, Chairman of National Sikh Front Varinder Jeet Singh said that Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Gurbachan Singh has also written a letter to centre Govt, and Punjab Govt, to ban the movie.
“We have written a letter to Union Information Broadcasting Minister Rajwardhan Singh Rathore and President of Central Censor Board Lalita Sampson demanding them ban on the movie,” he told reporters.
Appealing to Jammu and Kashmir Government to impose ban on the movie, Varinder said that if the film is released, it will hurt the sentiments of Sikh community at large.
“The content of the film will hurt the religious sentiments of Sikhs community,” he said adding that Gurmeet, who is in the lead role is already “facing trial in a murder and rape case”.
He also appealed to the owners of cinemas in Jammu for not to showing the movie in their theatres because they themselves will be responsible for the damage in their cinemas by showing the movie.
He appealed to all the people of India not to see this movie and especially the Sikh community to boycott the movie.
Other present were Kulwant Singh Bhatti, President National Sikh Front, S. Gurdyal Singh Bali Vice President and Paramjit Singh.
