RAJOURI: Farooq Muztar an eminent educationist, litterateur and philanthropist hailing from border hilly area of Rajouri has been conferred upon Eight MD Banday Memorial Award in an impressive function at MET Thanamandi. The award is instituted in the name of Late Mohd Din Banday a socio-political stalwart of Poonch who lived his whole life for the welfare of the people and contributed to the overall development of the region selflessly for years together. Muztar was nominated by MD Banday Memorial Society and the award which included a trophy, citation and shawl was presented by MET, Thanamandi on its 39th Annual Day amidst a massive gathering of academicians, social activists, litterateurs , senior officers from civil and police administration, prominent members of civil society, teachers and students.
The award was given in recognition to Farooq Muztar’s outstanding contribution to education, literature, journalism, peace building and promotion of inter-faith harmony in the State of Jammu and Kashmir for more than last three decades. As the founder patron of Himalayan Education Mission Society Muztar has endeavoured to run umpteen schools and colleges to import quality education at a very affordable price, besides running social welfare organisation under its umbrella.
This is worthwhile to mention here that Farooq Muztar is also the recipient of many prestigious awards including Distinguished Leadership Award of the Century by American Biographical Institute, J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Award for excellence in literature, Best Teacher Award by Distt Administration, Ram Prakash Kapoor Award by Hindustani Adbi Culture Banaras, UP, and Prime Time Global Education Excellence Award at Crown Plaza New Delhi and many more.
