BJP for uniform civil codeMumbai:- Indicating that all is not well among the ruling partners ahead of the crucial BMC polls, BJP Mumbai unit chief Ashish Shelar today launched a veiled attack on Yuva Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray.

“The understanding of politics of some people is limited to peg, penguin and party,” he said referring to Aaditya, son of Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray.

“They (Aaditya) speak of night bazaar and rooftop parties. I wish them all the best,” he said.

Shelar was speaking to reporters at the party office in Dadar on the occasion of the Devendra Fadnavis-led government completing two years in Maharashtra.

Aaditya’s idea to bring ‘Humboldt penguins’ to Mumbai had come under the scrutiny after one of the penguins died at the Byculla zoo last week, prompting animal activists and opposition parties to question the decision to import the flightless birds to the city.

Activists had slammed the Sena-led civic body for spending crores on importing the birds and shelling out more of tax payers’ money on their upkeep.

Opposition NCP even went to the extent of putting up hoardings “mocking” Thackeray and demanded an enquiry into the death.

Shelar spoke about various initiatives by the state and Central governments in the last two years.

“After GST comes into effect, Mumbai will be octroi-free,” he said.

“The Fadnavis government is also making efforts to make Mumbai a smart city. Our government has achieved the progress which was not achieved in last 60 years,” he added.
