Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to schools on Teachers Day was brilliant, but there was no point in making students sweat it out in cramped rooms for two hours. Listening to the address in real time could have been made optional for them. Media reports spoke of many schools that had students assembled in classrooms and halls but could hardly telecast anything because of power outages or inadequate audio systems. Also, there was no point in asking schools in the non-Hindi speaking states to organise the telecast without facilities for translation.
