Mock drill on terror attack conducted at Vaishno Devi

KATRA: Amid high alert following cross-LoC surgical strikes, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other agencies today conducted a mock drill about a terror attack in Katra, the Base Camp of Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine.
Annually, over one crore devotees from various parts of the country and the world undertake pilgrimage to the Shrine situated in the Trikuta Hills in Jammu region.
“Keeping in view the security of Katra, two mock drills were conducted today,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Sujit Kumar.
One drill was related to terror attack and it was conducted at Police Station Katra and Bus Stand. Another drill was related to disaster management and it was carried out near Bus Stand.
The drills were intended to create awareness about measures to be taken during a terror attack and enhance coordination during emergency period.
Apart from police, teams of army, Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Fire Brigade Department, disaster management teams and health staff actively participated in the exercise.
“All the agencies took several lessons from the drills and enhanced their coordination in tackling any emergency situation related to security or any type of threat at Katra,” SSP said.
Meanwhile, on the directions of SSP Reasi Sujit Kumar, SHO Bhawan Inspector Rajesh Sharma along with Bhawan Police and CRPF party conducted area domination, starting from MMG Post of CRPF followed the Chhini Kupri Route visited Police Post Rimindi.
The whole Nafri of the Police Post Rimindi was briefed and directed to remain extra vigilant particularly regarding forthcoming Navratras Festival as there is only single route leading towards Bhawan. Officials were also directed for regular patrolling in the area.
After Police Post Rimindi, party visited CRPF Camp at Sukhal Ghatti and in Shukhal Ghatti Camp In-Charge Insp. Munshi Ram along with CRPF party was available. The officials of the CRPF Camp Sukhaal Ghatti were briefed regarding the present security scenario and instructed to remain extra vigilant particularly regarding forthcoming Navratra festival.
After night stay at Sukhaal Ghatti Camp, party visited Devi Garh, Tote, Kalli Mitti and Danga Kote. At Devi Garh the Panch namely Jarnail Singh of the area and other villagers were briefed regarding the present security scenario and directed all to remain extra vigilant.
They were also informed that if anyone finds any suspect person or any suspicious movement then immediately either Police Post Rimindi or CRPF Camp Sukhal Ghatti be informed.
Some police officers/officials contact Nos. were also given to them in case of any emergency. During area domination whosoever came in contact were briefed accordingly and also directed to remain extra vigilant. From Danga Kote, party reported back at Katra and then towards Bhawan.
