JAMMU: Old habits die hard. The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) continued with the old tradition of hiding the information with regard to team details, especially in the senior group of Ranji Trophy.
Today, the State Ranji Trophy team left for the venue of their season’s opening tie against Kerela at a neutral venue in West Bengal. As per the already drawn fixtures, J and K shall meet Kerela at 9.30 AM on 6th October at Bengal Cricket Academy Ground, Kalyani.
Attempts to get the final selected team turned out to be a futile exercise. While the office of JKCA had no excess to the final squad and subsequently asked for contacting the General Secretary, Iqbal Ahmad Shah, the latter suggested the name of newly appointed Media Manager, Rajesh Dhar for details. Of no avail, the cell phone of Rajesh Dhar continued to be on switch off mode.
However, it has been reliably learned that former Delhi cricketer Mithun Manhas has been made captain of the team while another Delhi boy, Puneet Bist has accompanied the team as wicket-keeper. The 16-member team has six players each from Kashmir and Jammu.
With regard to supporting staff, including two coaches, an equal number of managers and physio belong to Kashmir Wing of the JKCA.
