Minister’s surprise check at GMC hospital Bali assures closure of medical shops inside hospitals

JAMMU: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat on Wednesday stressed on initiating steps to eradicate corruption from Jammu and Kashmir.
Immediately after assuming the charge, Bali Bhagat on late Wednesday night paid surprise visit to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Jammu and interacted with patients, and reviewed the medicare facilities available there.
People during interaction with the health minister, alleged that under a clandestine plan, some traders are opening medical shop in GMC Complex Jammu and other government hospitals to extend undue benefit to certain people having vested interests.
Responding to allegation, Bali Bhagat assured them of BJP’s corruption free credentials and asked them to have confidence in his leadership. He assured that corruption shall be uprooted in shortest possible time and BJP will ensure that transparency at all levels should be maintained. All such medical shops will be closed, Bali assured.
Later, he took a comprehensive review of the functioning of different sections of the hospital.
Interacting with attendants of the patients, Bali Bhagat assured that adequate steps will be taken to add requisite infrastructure in the institution.
Bali Bhagat also interacted with the staff of the Hospital during the visit and directed the medical and paramedical staff to work with dedication for better results.
This was his first visit to the hospital after assuming the charge as Health Minister.
He also visited wards and reviewed facilities including power, water and sanitation.
