Mehbooba for expediting recruitment of teachers

JAMMU: The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday laid stress on incorporating more physical activity in school curriculum so that students get a balanced attention in developing their physical and mental faculties. She also directed for fast pacing recruitment process so that students don’t suffer due to non availability of teachers.
The CM said this while chairing 3rd meeting of Governing Body of Noor Society, which is the implementing society for Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) in the state.
Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar and Minister of State for Education and Tourism Priya Sethi were also present in the meeting.
In the meeting, the CM directed the concerned officers for developing sports grounds and stadia at schools in convergence mode with other Departments and agencies. She instructed for early completion of girls’ hostels being constructed by the society and earmarking some occupancies there for students belonging to SC, ST and other weaker sections of society.
It was informed in the meeting that, since the inception of RMSA, 636 middle schools in the state have been upgraded to the level of high schools. A total of 68 Girls’ hostels to be constructed at the cost of around Rs. 20 crore are under construction across the state.
The GIS mapping of all schools in the state has been initiated and it is likely to be completed by December 2016. So far, 25,511 schools out of 29,094 have been mapped and remaining would be mapped soon, the meeting was told.
Chief Secretary, B. R Sharma, Financial Commissioner, Planning and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister B.B Vyas, Commissioner- Secretary, Finance, Navin Choudhary, Commissioner-Secretary, Education, Shaleen Kabra; Director, RMSA, Saugat Biswas and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
