Medical Deptt daily wagers seek pending dues

JAMMU: J&K Medical Department Daily Wager Union on Monday staged a protest against the callous attitude of the Medical College Hospital Authorities towards the demands of the casual labourers working in Government Medical College and Associated Hospital including Super Speciality Hospital, Jammu. Led by Rakesh Mehra, the union members assembled in front of OPD Block of Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu and raised slogans in support of their demands. Addressing the gathering, Rakesh Mehra criticized the State Government and Health and Medical Education Department for playing with the carrier of hundreds of innocent casual labourers who are working day and night for the smooth functioning of medical college and associated hospitals as in spite of their hard work they are not paid their due wages for the last more than 30 months. Rakesh Mehra said that these Casual Labourers are the employees of Principal Govt Medical College and Associated Hospital and working under the supervision of Medical Engineering Department. “Neither the Principal, Govt Medical College, Jammu nor the Executive Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Department, Division Medical College is listening to our demands and are shedding their responsibility to each other on the pretext of these casual labourers are not working under their department,” he added.
Others who addressed the gathering include Akhil Sharma, Shamas Din, Rahul, Imtiaz Khan, Babu Hussain Malik, State President EJAC (R), Pradeep Kumar President Medical College Employees Union, Bharat Bhushan, Yashpal Sharma, Darshan Magotra, Seva Ram Rathore, Meenakshi Sharma, Farida Bano, Ansuya Gupta, Munish Sharma, Naresh Kumar, Sudershan Singh and Mangal Singh.
