Second South Kashmir Volleyball Championship

KULGAM: Maroofa Club Kulgam shall meet with Blue Club Anantnag in the girls’ final of the ongoing second South Kashmir Volleyball Championship being organized by Volleyball Association of J&K in collaboration with Kulgam District Volleyball Association and sponsorship of J&K Sports Council at MS Badroo ground, here tomorrow.
In the boys’ section, Star Club Pulwama beat Super Spikers Shopian by 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-22) in the first semi-final played on Tuesday and entered the final. Second semifinal match will be played tomorrow between Spartan Club Anantnag and Star Club Kulgam.
In this championship best eight teams for boys section and four teams of girls section are taking part from Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian Districts.
On the second day of the championship, Khalil Ahmed Banday, BDO Frisal, Kulgam was the Chief Guest, who interacted with the players and encouraged them to play with true sportsmanship to clinch the trophy.
The chief guest also underlined the importance of sports in nation building specially in moulding the youth of the UT in various constructive activities with special reference to Kashmir Valley youths.
He also expressed his pleasure to see the participating teams from Kashmir Valley and hailed the initiatives of the organizers. He complemented the players for taking part in the tournament and wished them success.
Office bearers of Volleyball Association of J&K Kuldip Magotra, R.C Sharma, Abdul Ahad Shah, Mohd Tariq, Akbar Ali and district secretaries Kulgam Nelofar Habib, Anantnag Abdul Ahad Shah, Pulwama Mudasir Dar and other dignitaries Ayaz Geelani SHO Yaripora (Kulgam district), Davood Ahmed, Showket Ahmed, Feroz Ahmed, Javid Ahmed, Aashikh Ahmed Wani, Junaid Ahmed of Kulgam organisers were present.
BOYS: Spartan Club Anantnag beat Super Spikers Shopian by 2-1 (25-20,14-25, 15-10); Attack Line Club Shopian beat Ballbusters Club Anantnag by 2-1 (17-25, 25-15, 17-15); Spartan Club Anantnag beat Azgar Army Kulgam by 2-0 (25-21, 25-23); Super Spikers Shopian beat Tral Tiger Club Pulwama by 2-0 (25-17, 25-17); Attack line Club Shopian beat Star Club Pulwama by 2-1 (26-24, 24-26, 15-12); Star Club Kulgam beat Ballbusters Anantnag by 2-0 (25-18, 27-25).
GIRLS: Maroofa Club Kulgam beat Blue Club Anantnag by 2-0 (25-15, 25-10); Super Strikers Shopian beat KKPS Club Pulwama by 2-0 (25-0, 25-0); Blue Club Anantnag beat Super Strikers Shopian 2-0 (25-20, 25-12).
