Man held with pistol in Rajouri

RAJOURI: Police in Rajouri district arrested a man working in Government Animal Husbandry department and recovered one pistol and six bullets from his possession.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri Chandan Kohli said that on Wednesday late evening, an accident took place when a car JK11B 9271 driven by Jasvinder Singh son of Amarjeet Singh resident of Nonial Nowshera skidded off the road at Chatta Siot.

” Soon after the accident, a team of police headed by SI Kamal Kumar under the supervision of SHO Dharamsal Rajinder Sharma rushed to the spot for legal formalities when car driver started to escape from the spot.” said SSP.

He however said that police team chased the driver and managed to detain him and found one pistol and six bullets of 7.65 mm calibre.

” Accused was arrested from the spot and a case under relevant sections of law for carrying an illegal weapon has been registered with further investigation into the matter is going on.” SSP said.
