Major crackdown on bovine smuggling;121 bovines rescued, six smugglers arrested

RAMBAN: In a crackdown against bovines smuggling, police on Wednesday foiled four bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 121 bovines and arresting six smugglers at various districts of Jammu province.
According to a report, acting on a specific information, a party of Police Station Chanderkot laid a Naka at NHW Chanderkot. During vehicle checking, a truck bearing No. JK02AL/ 5917 was signalled to stop for checking, the driver of the truck accelerated his vehicle and tried to run away but was intercepted a short distance by the cops.
During checking of the vehicle, 24 bovines were found loaded in cruel manner being smuggled from Jammu towards Valley without legal permission. On this, the bovines were rescued and driver identified as Mohd. Tariq son of Hohd Ayoub resident of R.S. Pura Jammu was arrested under FIR No. 32 section 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act at Police Station Chanderkot. In another incident, during routine patrol at Dalwas area, police party intercepted two persons, having flock of 80 bovines. On enquiry, it was established that both of them are bovine smugglers and were trying to smuggle bovines on foot from Jammu towards Srinagar. On this, the bovines were rescued from their clutches who have been identified as Mohd Aslam son of Guddu resident of R.S Pura, Jammu and Rafaqat Ali son of Mohd Hussain resident of Anantnag. Both of them were arrested and a case vide FIR No. 33/2016 under section 188 RPC was registered against them. The arrests has been made by SI Vishal Kumar of Police Station Chanderkot.
Meanwhile, On a specific information, a party from Police Station Gandoh rushed to Goha Dhaar, Kahaljugasar area to rescue the bovines which were reportedly being brought from Chamba, Himachal Pradesh and were to be smuggled to Kashmir Valley.
“On a specific tip off about a bovine smuggling by some locals from Himchal Pradesh towards Kashmir Valley via Goha Dhaar, Kahaljugasar area of Gandoh, our party reached there and rescued eight bovines from the possession two smugglers,” said SDPO Gandoh Sunny Gupta.
“A case FIR No 63/2016 under section 188 RPC 3 PC Act has been registered at Police Station Gandoh and further investigation is going on,” SDPO added.
The accused have been identified as Mohd Yousuf Son of Qasim Din and Abdul Hameed Son of Saif Din both resident of Thaloran, Gandoh.
According to a report, a specific information was received at Police Post Dewal that some persons were on way along with bovines from Barmidhar towards Kashmir via Nikkin Gali without any legal permission. On this, a police team from Police Post Dewal led by In-Charge Police Post Dewal under the supervision of Inspector Salim Altaf Raina, SHO Police Station Mahore laid a Naka at Arital Gulabgarh and rescued nine bovines from the possession of the accused person.
The accused person has been identified as Ghulam Ali son of Abdullah resident of Barmidhar Tehsil Mahore District Reasi who was arrested and a case vide FIR No. 37/2016 under section 188 RPC was registered at Police Station Mahore.
