LMD celebrates World Consumers’ Rights Day

KATHUA: In view of World Consumers Rights Day, a team of the legal Metrology Department Kathua headed by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua Ajay Kumar Verma and Inspector Legal Metrology Kathua and Dayalachack Vicky Sharma and Devi Lakhanpuria organised a consumer awareness programme in the premises of Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar.
At the outset, Prof. Rakesh Sharma welcomed the departmental team for organising such consumer awareness programme in college. The Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua made the students/consumers and staff of the school aware about their rights and duties while purchasing the day to day goods from the market.
They were made aware about the precautions they have to take while purchasing the day to day goods. They were informed about the utility of various weights and measures and weighing and measuring in accurate way by the various traders. They were also trained on how to check the authenticity of various weights and Measures used by various traders during business transaction. They were advised to see zero on the electronic weighing machines before purchasing any commodity.
In the end, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua thanked the Principal Prof. N.K Gupta for providing the opportunity for organising such programme at short notice, staff and students of the college for their active co-operation and showing interest in such consumer awareness programme. Prof. Rakesh Sharma also thanked the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua and his team for enlightening the students of the college about their rights and duties.
