REASI: The Legal Metrology Department (LMD) cracked down on the business establishments and booked four of them for violating the provisions of Jammu and Kashmir Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act and rules.
A team of Legal Metrology Department headed by Inspector Sumit Bhardwaj under the supervision of Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Reasi, Kuldeep Raj inspected about 20 establishments and booked four food joints including ‘Domino’s Pizza Hut’, Sagar Ratna, Raj Dairy and Restaurants and Sher-e-Punjab Fast Food and Restaurant for overcharging. It was seen that the products bore the printed MRP more than their actual prices with a difference of Rs 5 to Rs 25. One of the establishments was found selling coca-cola brand of soft drink 600 ml (pre-packed bottle) at the rate of Rs 60 against the actual cost of Rs 35. The department has also written to the Companies to desist from such malpractice of printing dual MRP.
