JAMMU: Continuing their struggle in support of their demands including wage revision, scrapping of NPS and improvements in pension scheme, a number of LIC employees under banner of Joint Front of LIC Class-1 Federation, National Federation of Insurance Field Workers of India and All India Insurance Employees’ Association held massive demonstrations on Tuesday during lunch break in offices of LIC of India across Jammu & Kashmir The demonstrations were jointly led by Vijay Khajuria- Secretary Class-1 Federation Srinagar Division, Rakesh Magotra- Secretary National Federation of Insurance Field Workers of India Srinagar Division and Pawan Gupta- Secretary Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association Srinagar Division. Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said that wage revision of LIC employees has been due since 1st August 2017; and despite lapse of more than three years, the Management is not serious in settling genuine demand of employees. “In September 2020 offer of 15 per cent hike in wages was rejected by the Unions. At that time, the management had said that it will invite the unions for negotiations within a month; but inspite of lapse of more than 2 months, there is no response either from management or from the Govt. This inordinate delay has caused a lot of resentment among employees. In spite of the fact that productivity per employee has increased to a big extent and also servicing to customers has touched the sky, the aspect of wage revision of employees is not being taken care of. LIC employees are demanding a very genuine wage hike of 40 per cent which they deserve seeing to the growth and paying capacity of the industry and also as per aspirations of the employees,” he added.
Others demands included scrapping New Pension Scheme, increasing family pension to 30 per cent, updation of pension along with wage revision etc. The leaders further announced that two-hour ‘Walkout strike’ preceding lunch break will be observed by LIC employees all over India in support of their demands on December 22, 2020.
Others who participated in the protest included Ravi Pandita, Romesh Chand, Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Neelam Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Raj Kumar Sharma, Rajesh Kumar, Raj Kumar, Nanak Chand and Preet Suri.
