Over a lakh children given pulse polio drops acros the region

Jammu: Over a lakh children were administered pulse polio drop in th region as part of immunisation campaign launched across the country. In Samba, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash administered polio drops to young children at CHC Vijaypur and Sarore Adda as part of ongoing Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme (PPIM) in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister emphasised the importance of campaign due to recurring cases in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Myanmar. He appreciated the role of Health Department functionaries, NGOs, Rotary Club and other supporting organisations in eradicating polio from the country.
At Samba District Hospital, the programme was inaugurated by MLA Samba Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal.
CMO Samba, Dr Seema Gupta informed that 330 polio booths were established across the district in which 1,320 vaccinators actively participated and 37,839 children were vaccinated against a target of 48,539.
KATRA: First round pulse polio was inaugurated by SDM Katra Neelam Khajuria in the presence of Dy. CMO Reasi Dr. K.C Dogra, BMO Katra Dr. Gopal Dutt, Dy. Commandant CRPF, SMVDSB Manager Sham Singh and staff members at Darshani Gate Base Camp Katra on Sunday. BMO Katra Dr. Gopal Dutt explained that in block Katra main focus is on the children of Yatris for which , seven transit booth of pulse polio are established at Police Check Post Moori, Nomain, Railway Station, Balini, Serly and Inderprast view point Adhkuwari besides this general polio booths are also established at Bhawan, Sanjichat, Himkoti and Adhkuwari to cover the local population. Sixty two pulse polio booths in whole of the block are established. During first round of pulse polio, more than 10,000 children 0 to 5year age are expected. The main Deptts. who are helping in this mission are Nirankari Mission, ICDS Deptt., Education Deptt. , Shrine Board, CRPF and JKP.
POONCH: By administering oral polio vaccine to an infant at Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital Poonch, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Ashraf Chowdhury in the presence of Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Nayaz Chowdhury Superintendent Dr Mumtaz Bhatti inaugurated three-day pulse polio immunisation drive in the district.
“Oral polio vaccine will be administered in as many as 415 booths set up for vaccination in the district, 1,660 workers have been deputed to these established booths and 88 supervisor to supervise these booths. “, said the Chief Medical Officer Poonch.
Meanwhile Chief Medical Officer Poonch also deputed District Health officer ( DHO) Dr. Shamim Bhatti for Mendhar and District Tuberculosis Officer to look after the progress of drive in Poonch City and nearby areas of the city to monitor the progress of immunisation in the day.
Against the target of 72,722, polio drops were administered to 63,263 babies by achieving the target of 87 percent in the district the Chief Medical Officer Poonch said and he told that rest will be covered in next three days in the form of house to house visits.
BHADARWAH:Thousands of children below the age of five years were administered pulse polio drops during the Pulse Polio Immunisation Day throughout Chenab Valley.
DCs and CMOs along with other Health Officers inaugurated the Pulse Polio Immunisation Day by administering anti-polio drops to the children at their respective District, Sub District and Tehsil Hospitals of Chenab Valley.
A huge number of children below the age group of 5 years were given two drops of oral polio vaccine at all polio booths established by the Distt administrations.
At Kishtwar, In a special polio booth at District Hospital Kishtwar, MOS Transport Sunil Sharma along with DC Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan, SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir, Incharge BMO and District Immunisation Officer Kishtwar Dr.Daizy Parihar, Dy.CMO Kishtwar Dr.Chander Bhagat, Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar A.H Malik started the programme by giving Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) to a few children.
When connected Incharge BMO and District Immunisation Officer Kishtwar Dr.Daizy Parihar said that we have setup several polio booths in every Panchayat of district.
At Doda, DC Doda Bhupinder Kumar along with CMO Doda inaugurated the Pulse Polio Immunisation Day at Old Hospital Doda. They also inspected various booths of the area.
At Bhadarwah, BMO Bhadarwah Dr Yudhvir Singh inaugrated the Pulse Polio Immunisation Day at Sub Distt Hospital Bhadarwah.
MENDHAR: Block Medical Officer Surankote Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan inaugurated Pulse Polio Immunisation Drive by giving two drops to a child of age 2 years at Government Sub District Hospital Surankote.
UDHAMPUR: Volunteers of Manav Uthan Sewa Samiti (MUSS) Unit Udhampur organised pulse polio camp at two different places in Udhampur which was organised under the overall supervision of Sadvi Samta Bhai ji with active support of Health Department.
According to reports, volunteers of MUSS organised one polio drop booth at Battal Ballina Road and other at Matador Stand near Town Hall. Matador stand polio booth was inaugurated by CMO Dr. Chander Parkash and Dr Santosh Sharma along with number of volunteers administrate pulse polio to infants 0-5 years age group.
While another polio camp was inaugurated by Sadvi Samta Ji and whole day volunteers and staff members of Health Department carried on the drive of pulse polio at large. Samiti told that at Ramnagar wherein BMO Dr. Rajesh Gupta and volunteers also administered drops to infants. Other who present on the occasion -Suram Chand Thappa, Raj Singh, Mool Raj Bhagat, Mohan Lal, Raj Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, Surjao Devi, Rakesh Kumar, Satish Kumar, Yoginder Kumar, Parbhat Kumar, Mohan Lal, Madan Lal Soodan, Mohni Devi and Vidya Devi.
