Former Indian captain as well one of the greatest match-winning bowler with as many as 956 wickets in the international cricket to his credit, Anil Kumble’s new Avatar as the coach of the Indian cricket (men) team has been widely welcomed which has simultaneously established his greatness as his selection was made from among other big guns like Ravi Shastri who was hitherto the Indian team’s director. Having no formal experience in coaching, Kumble’s appointment by the Cricket Advisory Committee which comprised cricketing heavyweights Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman has been made with regards to his immaculate public persona across the cricketing nations.
Hopefully, the Indian cricket squad, under his guidance will raise their level of play by a couple of notches during his one-year stint and be prepared for the test cricket matches in the near future even as Kumble will be able to prove his worth meantime.
