Appointment of outstanding sportspersons

JAMMU: Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, secretary Vansh Sabre Sports Foundation (VSSF) today called on Commissioner Secretary GAD, Sanjeev Verma here to discuss and raise the burning issue of appointment of outstanding sportspersons from J&K under S.O 12.
The Foundation secretary also submitted a memorandum with regard to the difficulties of the outstanding sportspersons, who are waiting for the last nine years for their genuine rights.
The meeting turned out to be fruitful initiative by the Foundation with top J&K official assuring early decision on the long pending issue of sportspersons. “While receiving the copy of the memorandum, the Commissioner Secretary GAD, Sanjeev Verma assured the Foundation of an early and favourable decision on appointment of outstanding sportspersons under S.O 12,” informed Kuldeep Gupta.
Earlier, during the discussions, VSSF secretary lauded the efforts of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in raising the world class infrastructure in certain sports disciplines, including that of Hockey, Football and Athletics.
Pertinent to mention here that J&K Government, under S. O-12 (previously SRO 349) has the provision of appointing five such outstanding sportspersons as Gazetted Officers and other 25 to the non-gazetted cadre, but due to litigation and other disputes no such appointment has been made for the last nine years.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Gupta appreciated the gesture of Commissioner Secretary GAD for patient hearing and concern shown regarding difficulties of the sportspersons.
