JAMMU: Kashmri Pandit Conference (KPC) paid rich tributes to great leader, social reformer and well-wisher of Kashmiri Pandit Samaj Late Kashyap Bandhu @ Bulbul-e-Kashmir on his 37th Nirvan Diwas. Kundan Kashmiri President KPC while paying tributes to Late Kashyap Bandhu said that he was always keen to serve Kashmir, in particular Kashmiri Pandit community. “He realized that to ameliorate the condition of community the social evils in the community should be removed and reforms brought in. During beginning of thirties he started several social reforms like re-marriage of widow, girls’ education, change of dress from Phiran to saree etc.,” he added.
Kundan Kashmiri further said that we have not only forgotten such great personality, but also betrayed him. “He wanted us to shun dowry system, wasteful expenditure, show-off on festivals, particularly during marriages but we are not following his teachings. Our demand for dowry has grown to awful proportions, expenditure on marriages has multiplied and our marriage festivities continue for days together. We can still pay him respects and Shradhanjali by following his ideas and teachings,” said Kundan, adding that KPC would continue to follow his mission and foot prints and appealed to whole community to observe his birthday and Nirwan Diwas every year.
Others present on the occasion included Dr H L Saraf, Tej Pandita, M K Raina, R L Raina and Susheel Ji Bhat.
