Kendriya Vidyalaya Regional Sports meet begins

JAMMU: The 47th Regional Sports Meet of girls under-14, under-17 and under-19 in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Chess, Skating and Yoga of KVS Jammu Region started on Monday at Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) No. 1 Jammu, here.
The meet was declared open by Assistant Commissioner and Officiating Deputy Commissioner KVS (JR), S Sambanna in a colourful function. Speaking to the gathering, Chief Guest highlighted the importance of sports and games and declared the meet open.
Earlier, the Chief Guest was formerly received by the venue Principal, T.R Choudhary.
Around 300 participants drawn from 25 KVs of Jammu Region attended inaugural ceremony. The function started with giving Scout and Guide welcome to the Chief Guest. The oath was administered by Ayushi Ujjwal, a student of KV No. 1.
BANTALAB: At Kendriya Vidyalaya Bantalab, the sports meet was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Surinder Ambardar, Member Legislative Council, in the presence of V. Santhosh Kumar, Principal.
In the meet, 114 students and 19 teacher-escorts from 16 different KVs, situated in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and J and K are participating. The Chief Guest reiterated the importance and complimentary nature of the games and sports for achieving success in every sphere of our life. He also stressed the need for paying more attention on games and sports along with day-to-day strenuous routine work.
The ceremony ended with vote of thanks by Romi Amrit, Vice Principal of the Vidyalaya.
KV No 2 Udhampur: Two days Regional Basketball Tournament commenced at KV No 1 Udhampur. The tournament was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Col. Gojendra Singh and Principal, Dr. R. Prasad.
Principal, Dr. R. Prasad welcomed the Chief Guest and caps were also presented to all the officials, sports teacher Rajeev and senior teacher Vikramaditya Gupta.
Dr. Prasad gave away his blessings to the students. The opening matches were witnessed by Chief Guest, principal and other staff members.
The first match was won by KV No.3 Amritsar, which defeated KV 1 Udhampur. The commentary was performed by Sanjay Purohit, PGT (Hindi).
