JPPF constitutes Peace Council for J&K
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: In view of the recent disturbances and turmoil in the Kashmir Valley and repeatedly attempts of miscreants to disturb the communal harmony in Jammu, a new party was today launched here, promising to be a “popular alternative” to maintain peace and brotherhood in the Jammu and Kashmir State.
Jammu Province People Forum (JPPF), an amalgam of more than 60 social, commercial and other organisations and a united voice of Dogras, on Thursday decided to constitute a peace mission namely Jammu Province Peace Council (JPPC) to avert any such untoward incident and to maintain peace and harmony in the province.
JPPC is to ensure that the fire in the Valley does not spread its tentacles in Jammu.
The constitution of peace council shall have mandate of all social, religious, traders, transporters and other organisations of Jammu to maintain communal harmony and remain alert and watchful so that anti-social and anti-national elements do not succeed in their nefarious designs to destabilise the secular character of Jammu consisting of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist population, President JPPF Pavitar Singh told
