JAMMU: Appalled at the Kashmir centric political parties getting united to issue threats of dire consequences in case the Article 35A was tinkered, a battalion of Panther activists spearheaded by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP, Balwant Singh Mankotia State President JKNPP and Yash Paul Kundal State President Young Panthers staged a protest against the BJP for its criminal silence over the issue.
The angry protestors assembled at Exhibition Ground here and burnt the effigy of the Saffron Party while seeking repeal of the said article in the interest of the State and the country further describing the same as illegal unconstitutional and void ab initio.
Addressing the media, Harsh said that the Kashmir based political parties including the NC and PDP had jumped into the fray of ‘competitive separatism’ for promoting the agenda of the secessionists ruling the roost in the Valley.
He said that Dr. Farooq Abdullah after chairing a meet on Monday had openly dared to challenge the Union Government that in case the Article 35A was abrogated it would lead to mass uprising which could be a far greater revolt than Amarnath land row.
Referring to the obnoxious statement of Omar Abdullah a day before, Singh said that Omar stood one notch up over his father when he objected Centre’s position over the article by saying that the J and K’s accession to the Indian Union and its special status were ‘two sides of the same coin’ and questioning the legality of Article 35A would in fact put a question mark on the accession itself. “Similarly, last month Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had warned the Centre that if the special status of J and K was tampered or Article 35A removed there would be no one to shoulder the Indian flag in the Valley and J and K would not exist without special status”, Harsh added.
Lambasting the BJP for its servile posturing over the issue, Harsh said that while the Kashmir centric parties had united to safeguard the Article 35A, the Saffron party preferred to play a second fiddle in the alliance for the loaves of power as the Coalition Government law Minister had also made a statement supporting Art 35A.
He warned the BJP to wake up from the deep slumber induced by the power intoxication and univocally raise the issue to fulfill the election promises made to the people on Article 35A and 370.
Singh maintained that Panthers Party shall oppose, expose and depose the Saffron brigade for inflicting dents upon the pride of Dogras besides its meek surrenders and blunders in a bid to trample the aspirations of Jammu region.
