JAMMU: Gurupurab was celebrated in the premises of J K Public School Kunjwani on Saturday with gaiety and fervour. Also known as Guru Nanak Jayanti, this festival is celebrated by Sikhs all over the world as it marks the birth celebrations of Guru Nanak. His words’ There is only one God, his name is the only truth, he is the only creator, he is fearless, he is without hate, he is immortal, he is beyond birth and death, and only by his grace one can chant his name’ are enriching and worth pondering., His sermon of sharing, following the path of piety, chanting the name of the almighty, spreading of happiness, being selfless and equality of men and women were some of the ways in which humanity can be revived in the world.
To commemorate the occasion, celebrations were there in the school assembly. The program began with some discourse from the life of Guru Nanak ji, his life and preaching. The students talked about the life and preaching of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Some tips were given on how to follow his preaching and make life fruitful. The self composed poems by students were inspired by the sermons and preaching which hold a sway on the minds of the people even today. The Kirtan by the students resonated in the air and captivated all.
Director Shashi Chaudhary, in her speech, advised the students to follow the preaching of the Guru and find a way to reach God. She praised the scintillating performance and told all present to respect all religions and learn from their discourses. The assembly concluded by advising the students to follow the path of his teachings and leading a pure life.
