JAMMU: To recognise the outstanding performance of police officers who rendered exemplary assistance in retrieving large chunk of JDA land from the clutches of encroachers, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) felicitated three cops of Jammu and Kashmir Police here on Monday.
Vice-Chairperson, JDA, Sushma Chauhan presented the ‘Citations of Appreciation’ to police officers including Inspector Shiv Dev Singh SHO Bari Brahmana, SI Vikram Manhas Chowki Officer Poni Chack and former Chowki Officer Poni Chack SI Shamim Ahmed for proactively assisting the JDA in its drive against the illegal encroachers/violators of BOCA, which ultimately led to the retrieval of hundreds of Kanals of JDA land.
Sushma said that the task before JDA was, and still is, very difficult as massive encroachments existed on its land. “Therefore, without positive role of the police, it was not possible to retrieve the encroached land”, she maintained.
The Vice Chairperson further said that the High Court has recently ordered a time-bound demarcation of JDA land which will further require active support of the Police Department.
Director Land Management, Secretary JDA and Chief Town Planner were also present on the occasion.
