JDA Dir, cop injured in mob violence at Sidhra

JAMMU: Director Land Management Jammu Development Authority (JDA), Rishpal Singh and one constable received injuries while conducting demolition drive in Sidhra area, on the outskirt of Jammu city.
According to report, a team of Enforcement and Revenue Wing of JDA under the supervision of Director Land Management, JDA Rishpal Singh and SDPO Nagrota accompanied by SHO Police Station Nagrota and Incharge Police Post Sidhra visited village Majeen in Sidhra area to remove illegal structures raised over JDA land.
As soon as the team reached the spot, the locals gathered and started pelting stones on them resulting into injuries to Director Land Management JDA and a constable.
Sensing trouble, the JDA team and police personnel backtracked from the demolition site and lodged an FIR against miscreants in Police Station Nagrota.
Meanwhile, the JDA team also sealed two shops viz Nos. 63 and 83 at JDA Small Shopping Complex along Ravi Tawi Canal (Backside of Vaishnavi and Kalika Dham) Rail Head Complex for changing the design and raising walls and laying of RCC slabs. Besides, the JDA team also demolished a permanent wooden structure raised by some kiosk owners over JDA land behind Vaishnavi and Kalika Dham at Rail Head Complex, Jammu.
JDA warned the habitual encroachers/ land mafia to desist from disposing of JDA land to innocent people on pretext of fake revenue documents and advised the general public that before starting any construction work under the jurisdiction of JDA, they should get their building plans approved, failing which stern action will be taken against the violators under the provisions of Control of Building Operation Act.
