JAMMU: The Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) on Thursday qualified for the semifinals of the Salute and Tribute to Saichen Martyrs’ Twenty20 Tournament, organised by Parade Sports Association at Parade Ground, here.
In the quarterfinals, played on Thursday, JCC outplayed New Challenger Club by five wickets. Batting first, New Challenger could make only 75 runs when they lost all their wickets in 18.4 overs after winning the toss and batting first.
Sahil Bhalwal (15), Sumit (13) and Ashu (10) were the only batsmen who could touch the double figure mark. For JCC, Rohit Sharma, Vishwajeet and Shubham Pundir emerged as most successful bowlers, who took three wickets each. Deepak bagged one wicket.
In reply, JCC attained the goal with the help of a boundary making 79 runs for the loss of five wickets in 11.4 overs. Vivek Singh played superb innings of 34 runs coming off 25 deliveries hitting four boundaries and one maximum. Paras Sharma and Vishwajeet remained unbeaten with 13 and 14 runs respectively.
For New Challenger, Soumaya clinched three wickets for 15 runs in five overs while Sumit and Pardeep Singh shared apiece each.
For his all round performance, Vishwajeet was adjudged Man of the Match.
