Japanese offer Jitendra proposal for hotels, smart cities

JAMMU: In a significant development, leading business and trade houses from Japan have offered to set up hotels and smart cities in India. The proposal was made to Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), by a delegation of Japanese International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC) which called on him at his office in New Delhi today.
Among the projects proposed to be taken up on immediate priority is the setting up of Hotels by famous “Toyoko Inn” Japanese chain. Similarly, a Japanese Housing company called ‘Daiwa House’ as proposed to collaborate in bringing up smart cities in India. FEC Vice-Chairman Kenichi Watanabe, who led the delegation, said that the Japanese business community is highly impressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concept of ‘Make in India’ and his idea of smart cities.
Welcoming the delegation, Dr Jitendra said, while Japan can benefit India through its highly developed technical know-how, India on its part offers a huge and highly fertile area for investment.
The Japanese delegation informed Dr Singh that they have identified 25 such areas where they can collaborate and invest to help accomplish Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ mission.
They said, they would soon get back to the Minister with a written documentation to be followed up at different levels.
Dr Jitendra promised to study all the proposals with an open mind and appreciated Japanese business and trade leaders for their innovative initiative.
