SRINAGAR: The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education Asiea Naqash while replying to a question of Ghulam Nabi Monga in the Legislative Council informed that the government has recommended both capital cities-Srinagar and Jammu to Union Ministry of Urban Development for inclusion under Smart City Mission. The step was taken after the same was approved in a high powered Committee headed by the Chief Secretary.
The minister further informed that Central Government has now allowed both the cities to participate in the All India competition of the Smart City Challenge process as such Smart City proposal shall be formulated for both the cities and shall be submitted to the Union Ministry of Urban Development for sanctioning.
