Jammu Film Festival cements its status as International event in J&K with culmination of 3rd edition

JAMMU: The third edition of the Jammu Film Festival concluded with a grand award ceremony on Sunday. The festival, which spanned over two days, screened more than 50 films including feature films, short films, and documentaries from around the world. With the grand and very successful 3rd edition Jammu Film Festival has been able to establish itself as a truly international event in J&K.
The event was graced by several Bollywood celebrities including actors Deepika Singh and Rahul Roy, directors Rohit Raj Goyal and Nitin Gupta, and senior actor M K Raina. Festival directors Rakesh Roshan Bhat and Rohit Bhat were honored by two organizations, the JK Cine Association and DADAA, for their efforts in hosting the successful event.
Rakesh Roshan Bhat, one of the festival directors, expressed his gratitude towards the organizers and participants, saying, “It has been an incredible journey to be a part of the Jammu Film Festival. We are overwhelmed with the response we have received and are grateful to all our sponsors, supporters, and delegates who made this possible.”
Rohit Bhat, the other festival director, added, “We were able to showcase some of the best films from around the world, and it was a delight to see such a diverse audience in attendance. We hope to continue this tradition and make the Jammu Film Festival even bigger and better in the coming years.”
The festival also recognized the outstanding talent in the film industry with several awards in different categories. Some of the winners included Cage: Between Two Battles from Turkey for Best Director and Best Actor, Trek to Neverland from India for Best Cinematography and Best Actor – Jury award, and Banwari’s Mother from India for Best Film.
Other winners included Titu Ambani from India for Best Actress (Deepika singh), Best Editing, and Best Direction – Jury award (Rohit Raj Goyal), Cake from India for Special Mention – Children’s film, and Sandhanam from India for Best Film – Jury award.
International winners included A Few Steps Further from Iran for Best Screenplay, Matty Boy from the United Kingdom for Best Sound, Nahid from Iran for Best Direction, Fatih the Conqueror from France for Best Cinematography and Best Actor, and Liturgy of Anti-Tank Obstacles from the United States for Best Documentary. Sakal Bhatt’s Exile and Exodus Forgotten Tragedy – Nadimarg massacre won the best documentary jury award while War and Worship won best director. Nybreum – The Unsettled Shade, won best director jury award
M K Raina and Rahul Roy were presented with the prestigious K L Saigal award for their contribution to cinema.
Local participants were also recognized for their efforts with participation certificates. The festival also saw the world premieres of two films, Walk and Trek to Neverland. Walk, which starred Rahul Roy and was directed by Nitin Gupta, won the Best Film – Jury award. The festival was anchored by Kusum Tickoo and Bindiya Tickoo very well and their charm added to the grace of the event.
The event was a grand success, attracting audiences from all over India, and it was a celebration of the art of filmmaking. The festival organizers have promised to return with an even bigger and better festival next year.
