IO appointed to probe entry of fake doctor in labour
Major Security lapse in LD Hospital
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department on Thursday ordered appointment of an Inquiry Officer (IO) to enquire into the unauthorised entry and intrusion of a fake doctor into labour room of Lal Ded Hospital Srinagar.
As per an order, Administrator Associated Hospitals GMC Srinagar, Hashmat Ali Yatoo has been appointed as Inquiry Officer and directed to submit the report within 3 days.
“Sanction is accorded to the appointment of Hashmat All Yatoo (IAS), Administrator, Associated Hospitals, Government Medical College, Srinagar as Inquiry Officer to enquire into the matter regarding unauthorized entry and intrusion into Labour Room of Lal Ded Hospital, Srinagar by a fake doctor,” reads the order.
On Wednesday Mohammad Kifayat Rather, a resident of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, was arrested for allegedly impersonating as cardiologist and entering the Lal Ded Hospital’s labour room, police said. The incident had given rise to concerns regarding the security protocols of the hospital and the safety of the patients.
Officials of the hospital on Wednesday said that they have tightened the security and started an investigation to find out how this impersonator managed to gain entry into the premises. Earlier, on September 10, STATE TIMES had raised many issues with the hospital administration regarding security and other concerns, such as patients facing problems during hours of waiting for OPD ticket every day in scorching heat wave. In addition outsourcing security persons are intervening in the internal affairs of the hospital. During the visit to the Hospital, the STATE TIMES Reporter observed that many male attendants were coming to the OPD Block without proper enquiry. When the matter was taken up with hospital officials, they said that these issues have been taken up with the security authorities so as to ensure that there are no lapses in future.
But just ten days later a major security flaw has come to light, when reports came from hospital that a fake doctors was present in labour room of Lal Ded Hospital for three days, which does not only raise questions about the security of the premier maternity hospital of the Valley but also proves to be a case of disrespect for all.
