Inter-zone District Level Tournaments of Kathua concludes Kathua Zone lifts u-17 cricket title

KATHUA: Inter-zone district level competitions in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Wrestling and Cricket for U-17 and U-14 boys and girls, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports concluded here at Sports Stadium Kathua.
On concluding day of tournament the matches of cricket for U/17 boys were held in which zone Lakhanpur defeated zone Marheen by six wickets in first semifinal and zone Kathua trounced zone Barnoti by 23 runs in second semifinal. The final was played between Lakhanpur and Kathua in which Kathua registered triumph over Lakhanpur. While batting first Kathua made 59 runs in 12 overs and Gagandeep scored highest 15 runs in 18 balls whereas Aman clinched two wickets. Lakhanpur, while chasing the target declined during eighth over at 41 runs thus paving way for Kathua’s win by 18 runs. DYSSO Kathua Sunil Kumar presented the vote of thanks. Overall Activity Incharge Joginder Kumar Khajuria, Rajesh Kumar, Avnesh Kumar, Punjab Singh, Mohan Lal Dub and Sandeepan Sharma were also present.
