JAMMU: Semifinals line-up has been drawn in the ongoing inter-college men and women table tennis tournament, organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, on the campus, here on Tuesday.
Teams reaching the last four stages of the women’s section include Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar, Post Graduate (PG) Departments, GCW Parade and GWC Udhampur. Similarly, in men’s category, GGM Science College, MBS College, SPMR College of Commerce and Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) have qualified for the semifinals.
Now, the semifinals have been scheduled for tomorrow at the same venue.
Today’s quarterfinals were officiated by the technical panel comprising Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, Kumar Tarun, Rakha Ratra, Sandeep Khadotra and Narinder Singh.

WOMEN: GCW Gandhi Nagar beat GWC Kathua 3-0: Bhuveneshwari beat Poonam Sharma 2-0; Aarti Devi defeated Sobha Khatoon 2-1; Anju Bala blanked Vishali Bharti 2-0. PG Department trounced GDC Paloura 3-0: Shivangi Jamwal outplayed Neha Slaria 2-0; Neha Sharma downed Ranbhir Kour 2-0; Shivali Bhau outclassed Mehak Gupta 2-0. GCW Parade got walkover GDC Reasi; GWC Udhampur got walkover GDC Samba.
MEN: GGM Science College beat GDC Rajouri 3-0: Kuldeep Kumar defeated Zaheer Abbas 2-0: Kumar Danish outplayed Aabir Bhat 2-0; Pradeep Kumar blanked Umar Shabeer 2-0. MBS College trounced GDC Ramnagar 3-0: Sanpreet Singh downed Sanjay Singh 2-0; Anirudh Gandotra drubbed Divyan 2-0; Sumeer thrashed Atul Gupta 2-0. SPMR College of Commerce trounced MIET 3-1: Vinod beat Rishab 2-0; Ankit Arora lost to Sudhashu 1-2; Agush defeated Lakshay 2-0; Vinod blanked Ankit 2-1. GCET beat GDC Hiranagar 3-0: Alankrit defeated Sparash 3-0; Kumar Kovit trounced Jasrotia 2-0; Aman Chowdhary beat Jasleen Singh 2- 0.
HANDBALL: Meanwhile, in the inter-college handball (men and women) competition semifinals line-up has been drawn. While in men’s section, Government SPMR College of commerce, GGM Science College, MAM College and PG Departments have qualified for the semifinals, in women’s category, all last eight stages matches ended in walkover.
The Results: MEN: SPMR College of Commerce got walkover GDC Samba; GGM Science College beat GDC Kathua 8-4, MAM College defeated GDC Udhampur 17-16 and PG Departments trounced GDC Paloura 17-06.
Matches were officiated by the technical panel including Sudesh Kumar, Kapil Sagotra, Vinay Sharma, Taqdir Singh Charak, Gourav Sharma and Amit Sharma.
