JAMMU: An Army jawan died while another sustained injuries, as an infiltration bid was foiled on the Line of Control in Akhnoor Sector.
“Two jawans sustained critical injuries when a group of militants this evening opened fire at the troops in a bid to infiltrate into our territory in Jogwan area of Akhnoor Sector,” an official here said.
He said own troops from 28 Infantry Brigade retaliated effectively and pushed back the infiltrators, adding, “one of the injured jawan identified as Lance Naik Rajinder Singh of 2 Raj Rifles Battalion succumbed.” He hailed from Rajasthan.
“Another jawan is hospitalised while search operation is in progress and more details are awaited,” he added.
