JAMMU: Iknoor Kour cinched the Cadet girls’ singles title beating Hargun Kour in straight sets in the final of the ongoing Second Stag Jammu Open Table Tennis Championship at Stag Table Tennis Academy, here on Saturday.
In the meantime, Akhilesh shall be playing against Rohan Langar in the Cadet boys’ singles final. Earlier, in the semifinals, Rohan defeated Karmanya Sharma 3-2 (11-09, 06-11, 11-09, 07-11, 11-07) in a keenly contested game.
The Cadet boys’ semifinals were witnessed by former State champion, Maninder Singh and veteran player, Sanjeev Gupta, who appreciated the spirit among the young boys and girls. They lauded the efforts put in by I.P Singh in opening first Table Tennis Academy in the state thereby provided a platform to the youngsters to excel in the game.
Earlier, the tournament was jointly declared open by veteran Table Tennis players, Ajay Sharma, Satbir Singh and Sanjay Wahi in the presence of Sanjeev Gupta, Renuka Thussu, Sanjeev Nagpal, Sanjay Mahajan, I.P Singh, Manmeet Kaur yesterday.

CADET BOYS: Under-12 year: (Semi-finals): Akhilesh beat Kunwarjeet Singh 11-09, 12-10, 12-10; Rohan Langar defeated Karmanya Sharma 11-09, 06-11, 11-09, 07-11, 11-07.
SUB-JUNIOR BOYS: Upto 14 years: (Pre-quarters): Manaya beat Dhananjay Sharma 11-07, 11-09; Karmanya trounced Aarit Badgotra 11-04, 11-06; Sudhikeshen blanked Amar 11-06, 11-05; Rohan Langar outplayed Shiv Arpit 11-05, 11-08; Mahi Kalu beat 11-06, 11-08; Akhilesh beat Shivain Goel 11-05, 11-06; Nikhil defeated Karmanya Wahi 11-08, 08-11, 11-07; Pargun Sharma blanked Harshit 11-06, 11-03; Shaksham trounced Priyash Singh 11-06, 11-07.
