IHRSC skaters shine in 67th SGFI National Championship, bag 12 medals

JAMMU: In a remarkable display of skill and deter mination, Indian Hawks Roller Skating Club (IHRSC) emerged as one of the standout performers at 67th School Games Federation of India (SGFI) National Skating Championship held at Satna, Madhya Pradesh from April 11 to 15, 2024 by securing a total of 12
medals across various categories.
The event, which drew participants from across the nation, witnessed IHRSC skaters showcasing their prowess on the national stage. The Indian Hawks contingent ranging from novices to seasoned ones participated in a series of challenging events, each competing with grace and tenacity.
The hard work of IHRSC players paid off handsomely, as they clinched an impressive tally of medals including five gold medals, two silver and five bronze medals, underscoring the club’s depth of talent and commitment to excellence in the sport of speed skating. President of the Club Ashok Gandotra (Chief Engineer Retd.) praised the skaters for their per formance and dedication.
He said that the success of Indian Hawks skaters not only highlights the quality of training and skill development provided by the club but also places it as a significant contributor to the national skating scene.
“IHRSC’s achievement has not only brought pride to the local community but also inspired many young enthusiasts in skating arena to take up the sport”, he said adding that the club’s continued focus on nurturing talent and promoting sportsmanship is indicative of the fact that the future of local skating is going to be promising. He said that amid celebrations of the feat by the club’s skaters, plans are already under way to further enhance training facilities and support for the players, ensuring that the club remains at the forefront of national competitions in the years to come.
IHRSC skaters who excelled at SGFI National Tourney in Satna, MP include Samarjot Singh (Gold, Silver) in under 19 years boys category, Udhay Narayan (Gold, Bronze) in under 17 boys, Prageet Kour (Bronze) in Under 17 girls category, Puneesh Puri (Gold) in under 14 boys, Tamanna Saini (2 Gold, Bronze) and Saanvi Grover (Silver) in under 14 girls category, and Tabish Haider (Bronze) and Adwait Sharma (Bronze ) in under 11 boys category.
