JAMMU: Inspector General of Police, Traffic J&K, S.A Watali presided over a meeting of civil administration, various transport unions and other stakeholders here in the PWD Guest House Gandhi Nagar Jammu to review the traffic scenario for streamlining the regulation of traffic on the road of Jammu City in view of the forthcoming Darbar Move, Diwali Festival and \undergoing construction works.
In the meeting, the participants highlighted their demands and problems faced by them due to non availability of parking slots /terminal points. They also demanded that possible steps be taken for decongestion of Bus Stand, B.C Road as well as other routes with necessary assistance from the concerned agencies. Further they demanded clearance of all indolently parked trucks and buses from the working area of the existing General Bus Stand which always hamper the regular vehicular movement. The participants in general demanded that construction of fly-overs and alternate circular/ring roads on the most congested stretches of Jammu city. They also alleged that there should a check on the over loading in the far flung / rural areas to avoid fatal and non- fatal accidents.
The participants were assured that their demands which require attention from civil administration and other working agencies will be put forth for earlier remedial measures as well as early completion of all ongoing construction works.
IGP Traffic J and K assured them that the matter pertaining to government will brought into the notice of higher authorities and the rest which require attention and action from traffic point of view will be resolved soon.
Meanwhile, a delegation led by President Jammu West Assembly Movement, Sunil Dimple met IG Traffic, Shafkat Ali Watali and apprised him of the traffic problems being faced by the Jammu city winter capital.
During meeting, SSP Traffic Jammu, Rohit Basotra and SSP Rural, Dushayant Sharma were also present. Dimple submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti through IG Traffic.
In the memorandum, Dimple demanded construction of flyovers at Rehari Chungi and Jewel Chowk, circular roads etc to resolve the rising traffic problem. He urged upon IG Traffic to take appropriate steps for traffic regulation in Jammu city. IG Traffic, S.A Watali assured Dimple that necessary steps would be taken to resolve this issue.
