ICCR’s cultural show concludes

JAMMU: Month long mesmerizing J and K Cultural Show organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, GoI, with the support of J and K Tourism, Jammu concluded here on Saturday at Yatri Bhawan, Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Regional Director of ICCR, Balwant Thakur said that this scintillating programme has created a history for being the first ever cultural event which continued for 30 days, received overwhelming response and catered to an audience of over 60,000 spectators.
Exclusively meant for the visiting Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, the ‘J&K Cultural Show’ was a unique bouquet of variegated variety of different cultural flowers and essences of J&K which showcased the varied dance traditions of the State. ICCR Jammu started this show series on 1st of July, 2016 and since then over thousands of pilgrims and locals had the life-time occasion to witness this electrifying spectacular cultural bonanza which they term as one of the most memorable thing which they have witnessed during their Yatra. He added that all has been possible due to the personal involvement of the Director Tourism Jammu, Sushma Chauhan.
This unique cultural show begins with Jammu’s traditional folk dance Kud and transports the audience to a mesmerizing journey of the entire state while showcasing, Kashmiri, Dogri, Ladakhi, Gojari, Pahari, and Bhadarwahi cultures. The programme culminates through the presentation of a mega performance, bringing before audiences the laudable and admirable ‘Unity in diversity of J&K’, exclusively designed and composed to portray the harmony and the cultural co-existence of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This presentation also represents the vision of the new generation of the artists of Jammu & Kashmir who are not only reviving the wonderful dying artistic expressions in their own way but also believe in strong integration of the state through cultural and artistic initiatives.
A team of twenty-five artists, technicians and artistic coordinators are making this fantastic cultural happening possible. They include Rakesh Kumar, Sunny Mujoo, Vinay Sultan, Ankush Bhasin, Nikhil Manhas, Asha Kotwal, Jyoti Kumari, Geetanjali Khajuria, Ruchika Khajuria, Mona, Simran Kaur, Khushi, Simran Chauhan, Deepali Sharma, Anil Sharma, Nishu Pandita, Meenakshi Thakur, Razia Akhter, Gautam Kumar, Gautam Sharma, Mohit Kaul, Shivam Singh, Brijesh Avtaar Sharma, Tilak Raj Gupta and Ankush Lakhnotra.
