AKHNOOR: Police on Thursday solved a hit and run case within 24 hours and arrested the accused.
As per details, on December 16, 2020, an information was received at Police Station Akhnoor from reliable sources that a pedestrian namely Bal Krishan, son of Gian Chand, resident of Bhalwal Brahmana, was on his way towards Akhnoor, when an unknown vehicle hit him from behind. Some locals shifted the victim to SDH Akhnoor for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver fled away from spot along with vehicle. Acting on information, a case vide FIR No. 239/2020 under Section 279/304 A of IPC was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and special teams of Police Station Akhnoor were constituted. A team led by SHO Police Station Akhnoor Insp Ravi Singh Parihar after hectic efforts arrested accused driver, who was identified as Mangat Ram, son of Sat Pal, resident of Koudewalla. On his disclosure, vehicle bearing registration number JK02CB/0164 was also recovered and seized. Further investigation is going on in the matter.
