Modi’s talk of Kashmiriat, Jamhuriyat and Insaniyat is the need of the hour, but cannot make for a prudent long-term policy. The government is also embarking on a Rs 80,000 crore relief and development package for J and K, which will clarify India’s approach to the welfare and interests of the people of the State.
The only long-term solution, however, is for the Indian Government to win the trust of people through development in infrastructure, healthcare, sanitation and education.
