HC stays Samba teachers’ appointments

JAMMU: Justice Janak Raj Kotwal of J and K High Court Jammu Wing on Thursday stayed the appointments of teachers under ST Category of District Samba except that of respondent Farmeen Akhter subject to objections and till next date before the Bench and issued notices to respondents returnable within four weeks.
In a petition filed by Khalida Parveen and others claiming to have applied for the post of teacher under ST Category, District Cadre, Samba pursuant to vacancy Notification No. 06 of 2013 dated 10th May, 2013 issued by the Service Selection Board.
Advocate Deepika Mahajan appearing for the petitioners has submitted that as per the vacancy Notification, qualification prescribed for the said post was 10+2 but it stated that preference will be given to the candidates having higher qualifications including M.Ed, B.Ed. and Diploma ETT/NTT’. She further submitted that the Service Selection Board has selected the private respondents whereas petitioner, Khalida Parveen figured in the waiting list at serial No. 3. By drawing the table in the writ petition, it is pointed out by the petitioners that all the selected candidates except Farmeen Akhter figuring at serial No. 8 in the select list do not possess qualification higher than 12th standard whereas all the petitioners inter alia possessed B.Ed. Degrees. JNF
