Application for stopping promotions of Sub-Judges on Reservation basis

JAMMU: In an application filed by Ashwani Kumar Sharma and others seeking direction to respondents for ordering stay on promotions to the posts of District and Sessions Judge on the basis of reservation till the final outcome of the petition.
A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur after hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi, issued notice to the Registrar General J&K High Court and sought response from him before next date of hearing.
During the course of hearing, Sethi submitted that GAD has issued notification dated 21st June 2016 wherein it has been provided that the slots meant for reserved category employees vacant/unfilled till the matter is finally heard and disposed of by the Apex Court will be kept vacant/unfilled.
