Border Battle Hockey Cup

POONCH: Getting the better of Poonch XI in a nail-biting high voltage contest, HBF NCR Hockey Academy Sonipat, Haryana lifted the title trophy and emerged champions in the Border Battle Hockey Cup, organised by India Army at Astroturf Hockey Ground Poonch on Wednesday.
The boys displayed a spectacular performance wherein the sticks clashed and the shoulders bumped for the glory of being the “Champions of the Border Battle Hockey Cup”.
Maj General Gaurav Rishi, SC, SM was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Cdr 93 Infantry Brigade, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin Mohd Choudhary and Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch, Yougal Manhas, CO 14 Mahar were the Special Guests and ranked officers of Indian Army, members of civil society also graced the occasion.
After witnessing the exciting finals, the finalists were presented the well deserving trophies along with much prized Arjuna Awardee signed Hockey Sticks.
A cash award of Rs 40,000 was also presented to the winners on the occasion.
The winners of women’s tournament were also felicitated on the occasion.
The teams in past eight days have displayed true spirit of sportsmanship thereby fuelling the youth of town with josh and enthusiasm of Hockey.
The tournament was technically assisted by DYSS, Poonch and JKSC Poonch.
The Tournament was officiated by expert technical panel including Narjeet Singh, Narinder Singh, Vijay Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Jagjeet Singh, Amarjeet Singh, Sunil Raina, Harmik Singh, Rajinder Singh, Gurdev Singh, Navjot Singh, Ruchika Sharma, Ritika Sharma, Mohd Shokat and Kavaldeep Singh.
