NOWSHERA: The lowest rated pensioners have not been paid their most needed financial assistance for the last eight months due to non-availability of funds with the government.
A meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Handicapped Welfare Association Distt. Rajouri was held at Nowshera under its Senior Vice President Vinod Kumar Sharma in which they strongly resented ignoring policy of the government in releasing the pension of most needy people on the lame excuse of non-availability of funds. Vinod said that the monthly dues of people to the tune of lakhs of rupees per head are not affected with the shortage of funds while the funds get exhausted in the cases where per head liability is only Rs 400.
According to the beneficiaries including handicapped, widows and old age people the scheme introduced by the government for payment of a sum of Rs 400 per month for their meager help, becomes a source of irking-anxiety and embarrassment when it is not paid for months together and the needy people keep on visiting the offices in quest.
Vinod appealed to the Governor that since he has already released all the funds which were withheld by the BJP-PDP alliance during their regime, he may review the cases of lowest pensioners and redress their grievances which include payment of their pensions for the last eight months, enhancement of monthly pension to Rs 2,000 per month and regular payment of their pensions.
Prominent among those present include Bhim Rao, Shashipal Singh, Master Puran Chand, Ramesh Kumar and Raj Kumar.
